The First and Possibly Only

13 Feb

It finally snowed last night.  The kids have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of snow.  Last year we were not prepared when the blizzard hit and thus had to piece together suitable sledding materials and other things to play in the snow with.  This year we are prepared.  And so far we haven’t had enough snow to play in.  This snow, though respectable, is not enough to really do much with.  We can only hope that winter will give us another snow day, one filled with lots of road-choking snow.

Even the dogs were not that impressed.  Oh, they were interested for sure.  Denny ran about the yard like a Hoover trying to suck up as much snow as possible.  Lemon made it her job to collect as many snow balls that her fur could hold.  And she most certainly excelled at her job.  ;]

Late last night…

12 Jan

Late last night a cold front pushed through bringing high wind and some of the largest snow flakes I have ever seen.  The kids were thrilled to see the snow, especially since they received snow gear for Christmas.  Sadly it didn’t last long and was gone completely by this morning.  Denny, our Corgi, enjoyed it as much as he could when we would let him.  Shockingly he didn’t want to go outside to bark wildly at the coyotes that seem to be sneaking about the fields near our home here lately.  Instead he stared into the wind, letting the snow flakes drift about his ears.  Lemon, our Dachshund, looked at us as if to say, “…that dog has last his mind.”  Who could argue with that?  It was certainly sound logic.  Eventually he slinked back into the house with a full pout and covered in snow.  (Of course then he had the audacity to curl up under our bare feet as if we too wanted snowy toes.)

I’ll get you…and your little dog too!

Lens flare!

Say what?  The weather is going to warm up to the 60’s next week?!  [maniacal laugh]  So long, suck-ah!  I’ll see you on the flip side!

Human sled anyone?

I’ve got another year before the kids break me out again for sledding.  Gosh it’s going to be lonely in the garage.  Nothing but the lawn mower and some shovels for company.  [wink]
